Classic Tuna Noodle Casserole

Ingredients
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • ½ cup minced mushrooms
  • ½ cup flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cans tuna in water
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 3 cups grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 2lb bag egg noodles
Preparation Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350˚.
  2. Cook the noodles according to package directions.
  3. While the noodles are cooking, melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat.
  4. Add the mushrooms and cook until soft.
  5. Add the flour and stir until moistened. Then add the milk a little at a time, stirring as you go to keep out the lumps.
  6. Once the milk is added and the mixture is nice and thick (if to thick add more milk), add the tuna, peas and 1 cup cheese.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Drain the noodles and then pour into the tuna mixture, mix until all the noodles are coated.
  9. Pour the mixture into a deep baking dish and sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top.
  10. Bake in the oven for about 10-15 minutes or until the cheese on top is nicely melted.
