Jen's Baked French Toast

Ingredients
  • 1 loaf french bread or challah, cut into 1 inch slices
  • 6 eggs
  • 1½ cup milk
  • 1 cup 1 teaspoon cream or evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
    For the Topping
  • ½ cup butter - softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ walnuts (or pecans!)
  • 1 tablespoon syrup
  • dash of cinnamon
Preparation Instructions
  1. Smear a 9x13 pan with soft butter.
  2. Arrange bread slices to fill pan.
  3. Combine eggs, milk, evaporated milk or cream, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over bread and refrigerate over night.
  4. Next morning:
  5. Preheat oven to 350.
  6. Combine topping ingredietns and spread over bread. Bake 40 minutes.
  7. You can either serve it plain, with syrup or powdered sugar (it really doesn’t need any though!) or whipped cream.
