Stockings

A few years ago when I was pregnant with Juliette I decided to make new stockings for our family. Since we had a baby on the way I went ahead and made four at that point, but purchased enough supplies to make 6, knowing at some point in time I would need more.

The time has come.

I didn’t make one for Christian last year. I figured since he was only a few weeks old he wouldn’t notice.

I was right.

So since the Christmas season is fast approaching and I plan to decorate the day after Thanksgiving, I figured I better get a move on. I decided that since I was at it anyway and we know we need one more person to complete our family, may as well go ahead and make two more. I’ll be glad I did in a couple years I am sure.

The other thing I had been wanting to do was to make a little coat for Cash. He had one several years ago that I really liked but haven’t been able to find another like it. Then when we were living in Ohio and I used to watch Martha Stewart I saw an episode where they made doggy coats just like the one I was looking for. So I have had that in the back of my mind for a long time but finally decided to go for it.

It looked really cute and I was really excited that I had a good job and all that. I called Cash down to the dinning room and plopped it on him. It didn’t fit. Fortunately for me it was too big, not too small. I think Cash maybe would prefer that it had been to small so I would have had to start over. Because, in my little goal oriented mind and worn out from sewing body I decided to just lop off the back part and sort of piece together the binding and oh, stink I really don’t feel like ironing so lets just zigzag stitch and not fold the hem under. It’s a dog coat, it’ll be fine.

I think Cash is a little embarrassed.

I even did a button. Just don’t look at the part back by his tail. It’s pretty ugly.

But it used to be really cute…

Maybe I’ll try again someday….

Maybe I’ll follow directions when I do. If you want to give it a try here’s the link:
