Smoothies

Share

I started making smoothies on a pretty regular basis because Linus has a really hard time finding fruit that he likes and smoothies are a great way to get him to eat fruit and berries. The beauty of smoothies is that you can toss just about anything in there, I use whatever fruit I happen to have on hand, oranges, bananas, apples and I throw them in peel and all. Well the bananas I peel, but most other things I don’t. I also like to use some frozen fruit rather than ice cubes, it helps enhance the flavor of the fruit and I always think ice cubes water down the flavor. I will list here what I usually put in and then you can get creative from there! This makes a blender full so I can usually drink about 20oz and the kids get about 4oz each. Ingredients 1 banana 1/2 cup frozen strawberries 1/4 cup frozen blueberries 1/4 cup frozen cranberries 2 handfulls of spinach 3/4 cup plain yogurt 1/2 cup protein powder   Preparation Instructions Put everything in the blender and I like to add milk to mine but if you want to cut the fat you can just add enough water so the blender can blend it. Probably about a cup. Then turn the blender on high and let run for about a minute, adding more water or milk as needed.
