Sickness. Recovering. Still Sleep Deprived. But Getting Better.

Share

I feel like I have been completely neglecting my site the last couple weeks. I think I have been surviving and nothing more.

Christian spent about a week teething and cutting new teeth and keeping me up all night with it. Then Juliette got sick and threw up a couple nights in a row and then had accidents in her bed and then nightmares and then kept sneaking into bed with us – I am still not really sure how she did it – I have a pretty strict, no kids in bed with me, policy. Then I got sick somewhere in there. Then Christian got an ear infection and went on antibiotics and then he reacted to the those and ended up with all kinds of bowel issues and throwing up and a rash and I felt like I was cleaning up puke and poop every 10 minutes for about 5 days. So that kinda pushed me over the edge, then I thought we were all good and Christian decided last week that he should get up for the day at 4:30 or so in the morning. In a effort to allow Linus to sleep I tried to whisk him out of the room quickly but then I was unable to go back to sleep since I had to be up watching Christian. I just am not the type of person who can handle getting up that early every single morning AND having to be on the job too. It was not good.
So my house has been a wreck. I am behind on laundry. I have only cooked intermittently, here or there. I am not sure what we have been eating, but I am not hungry so I guess we have been managing.
So Saturday, Linus had a hockey game in the morning and then we went and ran some errands. Then after nap I left Jeremiah with the kids and ran to the grocery store for a few things to make some meals for some friends who need them and have to eat gluten and dairy free (gluten free I think is not so hard – but ME cooking dairy free – now that’s tough stuff 😉 so anyway, I come back from the store at 5pm and Jeremiah says, “Hey I have tickets to the hockey game tonight, wanna go?” The game started at 7pm and I know he likes to get there early to get good seats so that meant we needed to leave fairly soon. BUT I thought this might be just the thing for Christian. As tired as I was, I had tried everything else I could think of and knew he needed something, anything, that would just totally throw him off schedule, this was that thing. So I cooked up some beer brats and flew out the door.
Christian loved the game. If you have never been to a hockey game they are super fun. They play loud music and everyone really gets into it and it’s a fast paced game so no one (me) looses interest. When we walked into the stadium, Jeremiah set Christian down while he was doing something at the ticket booth and Christian started dancing. It was so funny that he actually had a crowd of people standing around him watching and laughing and cheering him on.
Our team lost in overtime but it was a really great game AND Christian was up until almost 10pm and was completely thrown off which seems to have solved my problem. He slept until 7:30 the last two mornings – his normal time!
But I think I am still recovering, although I do feel better, but still a touch on the tired side. But I think I will likely survive and I hope, I HOPE, I will be back on my game in a day or two so I can get Linus’ birthday party together!

On to the next thing.
